Second Dissertation Prize for Dr. Christian Günther
Dr. Christian Günther `s dissertation has been honored for the second time. After Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität awarded him the prize of the Faculty of Law in October 2024, the scientist is now also receiving the dissertation prize of the Society for the Promotion of Social Law Research. The society honors work that makes a significant scientific contribution to the analysis and further development of social law. The prize, endowed with 1,500 euros, will be presented to him on 25 March at the 21st Cologne Social Law Day.
Günther completed his dissertation entitled “Artificial Intelligence, Patient Autonomy and Informed Consent”, which he wrote at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy, with the top grade summa cum laude. In his thesis, Günther analysed the interaction between innovation and law in the UK and California using the example of artificial intelligence in medicine, particularly with regard to the requirements for informed consent from patients. The successful young scientist is now employed as a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute and is investigating the functioning of healthcare systems in various countries, among other things.
