Refugee Minors in Germany: Discussion with Ulrich Becker
Unaccompanied refugee minors stood at the heart of the last Max-Planck-Forum in 2015 that took place on 17 December. Prof. Ulrich Becker (left), Director at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy, discussed with Tobias Klaus (Federal Association for Unaccompanied Minor Refugees, 2. from left), Markus Schön (2. from right), provisional Head of the Youth Welfare Office of the city of Munich, and Hans Artschwager (right), managing director of WALDHAUS gGmbH, the consequences of a new law that entered into force on 1 November 2015. It makes possible the distribution of those children and adolescents all over Germany. Together with the moderator, Petra Herrmann (Bayerischer Rundfunk), the participants looked particularly at the problems that the new law carries along as well as at current political developments such as the second reform on asylum, planned by the Federal Government.
